Future Events

  • Edale Mountain Rescue- Thursday 26th June - Numbers are limited so please book as soon as possible.

Tonight we will visit the team at Edale Mountain Rescue.

Edale Mountain Rescue Team (EMRT) operates in the Peak District National Park in Derbyshire and is one of the busiest Mountain Rescue teams in the country. 2023 was the busiest year in the history of Edale Mountain Rescue. Team members were involved in 147 incidents throughout the operational area, which covers parts of Derbyshire and South Yorkshire.

One of the volunteers will show us their base, the equipment they use and give a talk lasting about 90 minutes.

Edale Mountain Rescue is a charity that relies on donations to be able to continue the fabulous work they do . There is no official charge for this event but I am proposing a £10 per person donation on the night.

There are 9 places left on this event as 26th May

  • Steve walk-Moss Valley Meander-Thursday 10th July

  • Steve walk- Rother Valley- Sat 26th July

  • Steve walk- Prisoner of war camp- Thursday 28th August

Steve’s walks are full of local history along with a chance to natter with friends.

  • Manchester Library visit-Monday 22nd September (Fully Booked) - The restaurant is booked for lunch. Please add your name to the waitlist if you are interested . A place may become available.

  • Pub meet Wednesday 6th August.

We don't have an official WI meeting in August so we are grabbing the chance to meet in the snug at The Wagon and Horses on Abbeydale Road South for 7.30pm. We can have a lemonade or two whilst we put the world to rights. We won't miss the cake we usually have at a WI meeting as the pub usually does nice cake and puddings in case anyone has cake withdrawal. Please book this event on website so we know who to look out for.

For future outings see Upcoming Events, book online or at the Social Events Desk during a monthly meeting

General notes

All members, friends and prospective members are invited onto any of the events. They can be booked via

  • The website

  • or by sending Gill a WhatsApp message on 07905922905

Once you have booked an event, if you need to cancel or change anything, please let Gill know via WhatsApp. If you get a thumbs up to your message, it means I have seen it.

When you have booked on an event via the website, you will get an email to confirm your booking. Save this email as it contains all the trip details, if you don’t receive an email, please contact Gill to confirm. Thank you.

For all events that state “please book your own ticket”, you need to RSVP to the event on the website as well as booking your own ticket so Gill knows you are going. This helps arrange car shares and ensure the outing can start on time.

Events for 2025 are being put on the website as they are booked. Keep an eye on the website (https://www.theforgewi.org/outings). As the saying goes, if you snooze, you lose!

If there are any other events you wish to organise yourselves, Gill can help you put them on the website.

If you have any questions, please talk to Gill or WhatsApp her on 07905922905

Please join the Social Events WhatsApp group to keep up to date with events between meetings. To join, please give your mobile number to Gill.

Have your say
