NB: Those who were down for February will also be moved on to March.
Next Committee Meeting: Will be early in March following the AGM. This will be for the new committee elected at the AGM in order to complete paperwork and set the Agenda for the coming year.
March meeting This is our AGM meeting. This will be an important meeting and we would encourage everyone to make an effort to attend where possible. We will be joined by our friend Anita from Crosspool WI who has been our IFE (Independent Financial Examiner) for many years. Anita will oversee the election of the new committee and New President, as per WI rules for electing a New President.
NB: If anyone wishes to join the committee please contact Jan before Friday 27 February so that they can be added to the voting slips. We would welcome at least another 2 people to join the committee.
During the AGM we will also be voting whether to continue with the current website, as the next payment will fall in this financial year. Also a proposal to change the date of our end of the financial year from the end of September to December, thus keeping inline with the new program of events and particularly the charity payments keeping it all in one financial year rather than straddling over 2 years. We will also be voting about charity payments this year.
Craft Corner

We are knitting/crocheting poppies again!
In 2024 we joined the NFWI appeal for knitted poppies to form part of the tribute to the celebrations of the DDay landings. Now two years on we have been asked to provide more poppies to go out to Normandy to refresh the tributes reading for next November.
Please get your poppies to Jan by Wednesday 4 March (AGM).
You do not have to come to knit and natter meetings to join in with our charity knitting, contact Jan for patterns etc for our WIPs.

Book Group
This month's book, The Hive by Gill Hornby, was generally enjoyed although the beginning was felt to be difficult to get into and one member gave up reading it. For those that persevered, an amusing, at times cringe-making story evolved of the mums who work to fundraise while their children are at school. We all felt we had experienced the cliques that develop and the falling out amongst the group at some time in our own lives. We would recommend it to others.
Other books that we talked about were
The Nature of the Beast - Louise Penny
Gabriel's Moon - William Boyd
Spellbound - Georgia Leighton
Lost for Words - Stephanie Butland
The Girl with Autumn Eyes - R F Vincent
Heidi - Johanna Spyri
A Long Time Dead - J M Dalgleish
Cartes Postales - Victoria Hislop
Hamnet - Maggie O'Farrell
Next month's book is Death in the Dordogne by Martin Walker. Kindle £2.99, World of Books £3.50, Amazon Paperback £9.19.
Book Group meetings - 3rd Wednesday of the month, 7.30pm at Laycocks Sports Club. For full details see Upcoming Books
Next Coffee morning: - Monday 9 February -10am Spoon (20 Abbey Lane S8 0BL) Please confirm via Whatsapp by 6 February, so that we can confirm numbers with Spoon.
